I do lisen to secular music, I love alot of music, but as a minister i'm cautious and careful that the music doesn't take me back to past things, the problem with some people in secular music they get into fantasy and they starting thinking of someone from the past and that is dangerous. I have actually listened to some of them and pray for them (no joke) but you have watch character, if its perverted character you dont entertain that, however there is a fine line for our youth, cause some of the youth are great rebellion with it and fantasy and sin and they get confused in their lives, I think we need to use wisdom when we listen to secular music. Some of these people have come to Christ, if we never prayed for them they would of come to Christ, however the stronger we grow in Christ the more we have to guard our hearts and minds to not go back in the world's formed, the bible says be not conformed to this world, dont become like the world. Don't be that way and be cautious in that, but there times I would go to a concert and pray for some and I've seen their lives changed. You have to use great wisdom in that. Think of yourself if no prayed for you would you have come to Christ, He wishes that none should perish, but their is fine line to be careful of, It comes down to maturity, if take back in areas you should not go dont listen but I like jazz, I like the sax, the guitar but I'm cautious as many should be. It all comes down to how mature we are. Bottom line Romans 12:1-2 Present your bodies as a living sacfifice Holy and acceptable to God and don't be conformed to the world (Don't become the world's way) take a lesson from Lots wife who kept looking back and when she did after she was told not to she turned to a pillar of salt. Think it through Amen.

Not to be critical, althoogh I like the Alcohol analogy, I think you needed to be more Biblically better prepared for the depth of this type of discussion. We have to understand the context of what is secular. Secular is the the view of someone who is totally against the ways of and the ideal of God, and thinks that man is the creates his/her own destiny. In this case Jesus Christ. The only way we know that is the depth of our relationship with Christ. We know the stuff that easily besets and entraps us; so, we have to ask the question: What is your objective for listening? I agree with the discussion of what is listened in my private setting with my wife and it won't "Jesus take me to the Cross" LOL!!! There is some good music that is just good art…and there is some other music that has a totally opposing message to the Gospel of Christ Jesus, because music does have an effect on how you think, act, and see life. Your ears are the only thing that can't voluntarity close, unlike the eyes or the mouth. We have to address this in our discipleship efforts. This is a Hebrews 5:14, Milk to Meat.
