DaSouth.com, HolyCulture.net and Freestyle Missions connect to bring Hip Hop Hope Unity to Chicago

On Saturday, December 3rd, at 10AM – DaSouth.com, HolyCulture.net and Freestyle Missions will host Hip Hope Unity in Chicago at the Lawndale Community Church.  The event is free and includes a complimentary lunch for attendees.

Bobby Herring (Hip Hop Hope Missions Founder and Co-owner of DaSouth.com) has been leading these events to help spread love amongst, serve and build with the Christian hip-hop family.  This year alone, events have been hosted in Oklahoma City, OK; Austin, TX; Shreveport, LA; New York, NY; Atlanta, GA and Tampa, FL.

The purpose of the event is simple – Unity!  Acknowledging that division can and often times does exist, this event is focused on shared learning, dialogue and a compelling future forward vision for the community.

For the Chicago event, Bobby decided to enlist the partnership of Holy Culture and Scott Free.  Bobby states “ It is our desire to present the vision of unity in the Christian hip-hop community to our co-laborers in Chicago.  Bringing this collective on individuals together for that cause, along with the sponsors supporting us further underscores the importance of this effort.”

The agenda for the event will include fellowship, networking and Unity Strategy Workshops, hosted by Bobby Herring, James “Trig” Rosseau (Co-owner of Holy Culture, LCC) and Scott Free (Free Style Missions).

Again, it will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 from 10am-2pm at Lawndale Community Church 3827 Ogden Ave. Chicago, IL 60623. Please RSVP by emailing tre9@dasouth.com.  For more information visit www.hhhalliance.webs.com, DaSouth.com and Holyculture.net

Overview of Agenda

I.  Fellowship and Networking Luncheon

One of the main things we want to make time for is getting to know one another.  Our unity fellowship luncheon will include a meal together absolutely free of charge.  It is our desire to get to know our fellow brothers and sisters who labor amongst us in Chicago.  This luncheon provides a laid back and relaxed way to talk about everything on our minds while filling our stomachs.

II.  Unity Strategy Workshops

While the descriptions and titles below do not give full details about the unify strategy workshops, it is certainly a great overview of what we will be addressing during the presentation.  It is important to note that we do not sell anything or collect any offerings during our time there.  The entire event is free.

Workshop Schedule & Description

Unity Workshop I – “Unity with a Purpose” 10:00-11:30am

Most of the time the word unity is thrown around within Christian Hip Hop circles as something superficial.  Phrases such as “we need to do more songs together,” are generally the remedy for unity within our industry.  But what is biblical unity?  How can that actually be accomplished amongst Christian hip-hop artists who are thousands of miles apart when we can’t even come together in our own cities?

About Bobby “Tre-9” Herring

After 14 years of faithfully ministering to the hip-hop culture as a rapper, record label owner, event promoter, producer, media rep, and hip hop missionary, God has placed a burden for unifying Christian rappers on Tre9.  In the last 2 years, he has been committed to the mission of bringing hope to the lost, the broken and the under-served through his non-profit organization, Eyes On Me, Inc. In addition, God has also called him to serve, equip and unify his co-laborers in Christian hip-hop.  With the creation of DaSouth.com, a Christian hip-hop mega-media site, he has exemplified unity from an industry standpoint.  Nevertheless, Tre will go much deeper into the nuts and bolts of unity for the sake of the Great Commission being fulfilled in this workshop.  Artists will leave with a focus and strategy for their individual ministries, as well as a unified purpose with fellow Christian hip-hop missionaries across the U.S.

Fellowship Luncheon 11:30am – 12:30pm – Our fellowship luncheon will be hosted by James “Trig” Rosseau.  He will share with participants about how online media is making a global impact and a discussion around implementing unified efforts in this space for Christian hip-hop to further the kingdom of God.

About James “Trig” Rosseau

Trig is co-owner of Holy Culture, LLC, which owns and operates www.holyculture.net and www.holyculturedownload.com.

Earlier this year, Holy Culture released the Holy Culture Drop CD (http://http://www.http://http://www.holyculture.net/dropcd/ ), an evangelistic project aimed at Christian listeners and churches, providing them with a tool for giveaways.

Unity Workshop II “Missing the Mission in Hip Hop” 12:30pm-2:00pm

Most artists will say, “I want to reach the streets,” but when you take a closer look, very few actually implement their desire effectively and consistently.

This workshop will help you engage your community by using your gifts, talents and music to impact the urban culture. You will learn practical ways of becoming more effective in your mission and calling by developing strategic partnerships and serving others in your city. This will result in bearing more fruit and a greater impact outside the four walls.   This workshop will be led by Scott Free.

About Scott Free

Scott Free is an evangelist, pastor, and hip-hop artist who emerged out of the Miami urban hip-hop scene in the early ’90s to fall in love with Jesus. His love for urban culture and his newfound passion insisted that he follow the urging to reach this same aimless and searching generation with the love of Jesus Christ. Residing in what many refer to the new hip-hop capital of the world, Atlanta GA, Scott pastors a monthly Urban & hip-hop service called City Takers. His focus on ‘being the Church’ pushes him daily beyond the four walls of tradition to serve in prisons, jails, homeless shelters, schools, and drug rehab centers.

He is also a gifted speaker and ministers in various locations and venues all over the world. He is the founder of Freestyle Missions and The Heart of HipHop where he and his family serve as full-time missionaries based in Atlanta, GA. His music and speaking is impacting the urban and hip-hop culture all over the world for Christ
