Hulvey Announces New Album CRY

Published on August 16, 2024

Reach Records alumn Hulvey recently announced his next album CRY due out September 13th.

CRY is an album that invites listeners into a deeply personal and spiritual landscape—one where tears become sacred, not shameful. Hulvey frames CRY as an acronym: Communion, Reflection, Yearning, a triadic structure that guides the emotional journey of the 17 tracks unfolding across the record.

From the opening notes, CRY balances worship and hip-hop, weaving vulnerability into bold bars. On tracks like “Poor Party,” he delivers raw, unfiltered confession; in “Top Spinnin,” he leans into perseverance; while “Battle Cry” and the closing “Altar” extend hope, anchoring the album in the redemptive.

Hulvey’s own words echo throughout the project: he hopes listeners “recognize that their tears are not in vain but are a powerful expression of their journey with God.” The album is structured like a narrative arc—first drawing into communion with God, then reflecting on life’s brokenness, and finally releasing a yearning for healing, intimacy, and transformation.

At its core, CRY is an emotional pilgrimage. It doesn’t shy away from sorrow; instead, it sanctifies it, suggesting that vulnerability can be the very pathway to encountering God’s presence.
