Era James Was Born in Lafayette, La. After a rocky childhood spent mostly in projects in Baton Rouge, La, his mom decided to move him and his brother to Houston, Tx (Alief) for a fresh start after leaving an abusive relationship with his father. Era started his musical journey in elementary school by playing the Violin. He later went on to play the Bass and French horn. As he got older, peer pressure pulled him into the streets and gang activity and spent from 17-26 years old in and out of jail and prison until he encountered The voice of God during an 8 year prison sentence. He ended up making parole after 3 years. Upon his release, Era has dedicated his life to serving his community and the next generation of youth, helping them reach their full potential and avoid many of the mistakes he made as a youngster. Through mentorship, Christian Hip Hop and discipleship he hopes to point others to Christ. From prisons, to the streets and beyond there’s no place he won’t go to see lives changed!
