Gratitude and Patience with BMF actress Rama Montakhabi

BMF actress Rama Montakhabi joins the Da Fixx to discuss faith, Hollywood and spirituality.

How did you get into acting

The actress had a “life is short” moment after the passing of her mother (2017) and father (2018) which inspired her to pursue her dreams of acting. “I went as hard as I could and here I am,” she exlaims. Wanting to make her parents proud, the actress landed her first speaking lead role in 2020. “I’ve done all of this by myself, with no management, and no agent.”

The BMF actress decided to work on her healing after the death of her parents.  “I did a lot of self-reflection, and painting became a form of therapy for me,” confessed the actress. “I would sit there for hours and just be in my zone and it would be like therapy.”

How does Rama navigate the highs and lows of the entertainment world?  “Allowing myself to make mistakes and not be so hard on myself,” the actress expressed. “In this industry you hear one hundred no’s before you get a yes; you have to have tough skin and be able to pick up and move on to the next.”

Faith and gratitude

“I went to a Christian private school when I was younger”, the actress states despite being of Islamic origin. I was Christian for a long time but my dad wanted me to do research and learn about all of the religions to make my own decision, Rama admits. She also mentions feeling separated from God after the passing of her parents. “I lost God for a little bit, I was mad, I was sad.”

But since her spiritual awakening in Bali, Rami now has an attitude of gratitude.  “I wake up every morning and I say thank you God for this day, my blessings, and my lessons,” Rama shares.

Playing peaches on BMF

What it’s like playing the role of Peaches on BMF.  “It was almost like playing myself, the actress explained.  “One of the character descriptions that I got in the beginning was like, Peaches is that girl, and everybody turns and looks at Peaches like she was just that ‘it girl’ and I just felt like I could relate.”

Word of advice for aspiring actors

Don’t give up! Rama exclaims “When you feel like you wanna give up, go ten times harder” I auditioned for BMF on a scooter due having surgery the month prior, the actress said.
