Album Review: E.I. The King “The Incarceration Part 4: The End”

Published on July 30, 2023

What’s good, what’s up, what’s happening, people of God. To say it has been a minute is an understatement, to say the least. I want to give a special shout-out to everyone at Holy Culture for their patience and understanding with your boy. My family and I have been dealing with the loss of my granddaughter, Shilo Anita Jane Hudson. I only ask for your prayers as we are still coming out on the other side of our mourning. But as the Good Book says, weeping may endureth for a night, but JOY cometh in the morning!!!!! Glory be to God!!!!!!

And now, on with the review……

This week we are reviewing the latest release from a Florida emcee by the name of E.I. The King entitled The Incarceration, Part 4. In this project, we find a man who has spent time in prison. However, while in prison, he has found salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. During his walk, he has come to terms with the error of his ways and is trying to give people the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the Gospel that has helped change his heart and mind.

Some highlights of this project include SHUT UP featuring Canon. This high-energy track points to the different places where the enemy shows up. It’s calling for us to question all ideas that are not of God. Another stellar track is DAY 2000. In this deeply personal song, E.I. talks about how being incarcerated taught him the power of forgiveness as he dealt with friends who dropped off once he entered prison. 24 HOURS is a track that gives you a look into the mind and soul of someone who is 24 hours away from being released. Yet, at the same time, he pours out his heart as well as giving his stance as to why he is so passionate and determined to represent the Gospel the way he does. I usually don’t include interludes as standout tracks, but THE INCARCERATION (PRISON PHONE CALL) deserves the spotlight. E.I. talks about his decision, while being incarcerated, to allow God to “refine him,” asking God to guide him as he re-establishes his relationship with his children and family.

And last, but certainly not least, the HEAD BANGA of this project is without question HIT ‘EM UP!!!!!! This right here speaks to the folks who are still in the streets. This is the Gospel being presented front and center, STRAIGHT NO CHASER!!!!!!!!! He also has collabs with Jonah Daniel (UPLIFT ME), Reconcile (Armed & Dangerous) Kurtis Hoppie (BEAUTIFUL), and Parris Chariz (FINDING ME). Also, check out the SHUT UP REMIX featuring Canon and KMO Shamaal, produced by Cardec. I really like the production on this project. It’s definitely some of the best that I’ve heard and will knock CRAZILY in your systems…….NO DOUBT!!!!!!!
