What good family!!!!! It’s your O.G. neophytemuziq with yet another review of one of the latest releases in our beloved CHH. This week we check in with the big homie from The ‘Ville…..Jacksonville, Florida, that is, in the person of the man known as Brinson. His just-released offering is called BEFORE HE CRACKS THE SKY, and believe me you, you want this Christ-centered opus in your playlist before our Savoir does just that!!!!!! So, let’s get into it.

I gotta admit, I had a difficult time choosing the tracks to highlight because…well..quite frankly, there are a lot of highlights on this project. However, The Lord had me to go back to several jawns and give them the old 1..2…3 listens!!!! Hey, when has God ever steered us wrong?…..exactly! so here are my picks.

First, there is the opening track, WELCOME TO THE END, which lays a solid foundation for the rest of the project. Next up is a song called LEFT, which highlights how not knowing the day nor the hour of Christ’s return should motivate us to turn to the Savoir. However, life’s trials and tribulations distract us and can have our eyes off the prize….powerful song indeed.

There is RETURN OF MEDALLIONS featuring C. Straight, ReadyWriter, and D.I. Disciple. The beat is BANANAS, and the lyricism is just as phenomenal. Each emcee definitely brought their “A” game on this one.

We have COMMENT SECTION, one of the illest concept records I’ve heard in a minute. What also makes it dope is that the situation described could actually happen!!!! Another standout, YEEN SAYIN NUNTHIN, involves something I pray I see more of in CHH. The new generation reaching back to collab with the O.G.s……and bringing them HEAT ROCKS!!!! This was achieved by collating with the legendary duo Corey Red and Precise. If you don’t know who they are, I suggest you do your homework so you can understand just how major this collab is. Now, some of y’all may be saying, “Aye neo, where is the SLOW ROLLA on the project?” I’m so glad you asked because my last standout track IS the SLOW ROLLA for this week, and it comes in the form of a song called O.M.S. (Order My Steps) featuring Porcha Love and Norman Michael. This will definitely turn some heads as you slow roll through the hood, windows down, with this on blast. With outstanding production and smoothed-out flows, it has earned the title reserved for the highlight of all highlights.

Overall, Brinson delivers a project that is well-rounded, sonically stimulating, and lyrically outstanding. When Brinson comes to your town, make it a point to go and support him and his ministry.
