Def Jam Reimagines DMX’s Prayers with Lecrae, Mary Mary, and More

Published on December 17, 2024

Today, Def Jam released a powerful four-track project that reimagines the heartfelt prayers of DMX with fresh music and new collaborators. This unique collection captures the raw emotion and spiritual depth DMX infused into his career, now accompanied by Grammy-winning producer Warryn Campbell’s masterful touch.

The second track features a moving prayer from Lecrae, who takes the first minute and a half to lay his heart bare. In a vulnerable confession, Lecrae speaks of running from relationships out of fear, losing friends to death, and battling for his own life. He transitions into the gospel message, proclaiming the redemptive love of Jesus, who died for us before we could ask for forgiveness. Lecrae closes his prayer with a heartfelt wish for DMX’s words to continue inspiring souls. His prayer leads into a remastered version of DMX’s prayer from “Ready to Meet Him,” featured on Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood.

The project showcases collaborations with Mary Mary, Killer Mike, Snoop Dogg, MC Lyte, and more, paired with orchestral contributions from The RoyzNoyz Orchestra. Each track is a testament to faith, resilience, and legacy, reintroducing DMX’s prayers as timeless messages of hope and redemption.
