Keith Mitchell Drops “Food For Life”

Published on July 15, 2025

(PRESS RELEASE) New York, NY – July 11, 2025 – Keith Mitchell, legendary R&B soul singer and one of the original voices behind the Grammy-nominated group After 7, is embarking on a bold new journey—this time not toward platinum charts, but toward purpose. With the release of his debut gospel album, Food For Your Life, and its breakout single He’s Alive, Mitchell has traded the glow of stage lights for the illuminating presence of God, and he’s never looked back.
A household name among R&B lovers for over three decades, Keith Mitchell helped define a generation’s soundtrack to love. Alongside brothers Melvin and Kevon Edmonds, Mitchell co-founded After 7, a chart-dominating trio produced by Babyface, L.A. Reid, and Daryl Simmons. Their classic 1989 debut gave birth to timeless hits like Ready or Not, Can’t Stop, and Heat of the Moment, all of which earned platinum status and cemented Mitchell’s place in music history.

But before the glitz and glamor, Keith Mitchell’s foundation was built on faith.

A native of Indianapolis, Mitchell grew up in Christ at Zion Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, where he was baptized and spoke in tongues at the tender age of seven. Alongside his brother and two sisters, he sang in the family group The Stars of Zion and later became director of the church’s Young Adult Choir by age 13. Even then, he was preparing for a calling far greater than he could imagine.

With Food For Your Life, officially released on July 11, Mitchell has returned to his spiritual roots with intention and passion. The album is an anointed collection of 10 soul-nourishing tracks, each grounded in scripture and filled with the spirit of truth, healing, and transformation. Anchored by the lead single He’s Alive, Mitchell offers a powerful personal testimony about the living presence of Jesus Christ and the spiritual awakening that has redefined his life. The song’s soaring vocal performance and heartfelt lyrics pierce through the noise of life’s distractions, declaring boldly: Jesus is alive—today, tomorrow, and forevermore.

“After decades of singing about love between people, I now sing about the greatest love of all—God’s love,” says Mitchell. “Food For Your Life is more than an album. It’s a ministry. It’s my testimony. And it’s my gift to those who are hungry for something real.”

While fans of After 7 will recognize Mitchell’s unmistakable voice, they’ll also hear a newfound spiritual freedom in his tone—a liberation that comes from walking fully in purpose. The album’s themes of restoration, renewal, and hope offer a timely message to a world in need of healing.

Despite enduring personal trials—including the heartbreaking loss of fellow After 7 member Melvin Edmonds in 2019—Keith Mitchell has emerged from the valley with a message and a mission. His gospel music is not just a new sound; it’s a new season.

“Food For Your Life” is now available on all digital platforms.
