A household name among R&B lovers for over three decades, Keith Mitchell helped define a generation’s soundtrack to love. Alongside brothers Melvin and Kevon Edmonds, Mitchell co-founded After 7, a chart-dominating trio produced by Babyface, L.A. Reid, and Daryl Simmons. A native of Indianapolis, Mitchell grew up in Christ at Zion Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, where he was baptized and spoke in tongues at the tender age of seven. Alongside his brother and two sisters, he sang in the family group The Stars of Zion and later became director of the church’s Young Adult Choir by age 13. Even then, he was preparing for a calling far greater than he could imagine.
