Lecrae’s Tweet About ‘Institutional, Corporatized Christianity’ Results in Loss of Tour Date

Published on February 1, 2022

Reach Records’ Lecrae is known for being a bit outspoken so it’s no surprise that he tweeted his thoughts about Christianity being institutional and corporatized. What was surprising though, Lecrae lost a tour date as a result. Yup, you read that right!

On Tuesday, January 18th, the rapper wrote on Twitter, “Once upon a time I thought I was done with Christianity. But the reality was I was just done with the institutional, corporatized, gentrified, politicized, culturally exclusive version of it.” By the following day, Lecrae announced that he lost a tour date because of his tweet.

Though he lost a tour date, Lecrae didn’t seem too bothered and even followed up the tweet by saying, “Vulnerability gets people kicked out of exclusive tribes. Jesus welcomes the outcast and seeks to bring healing.” Lecrae also shared with The Christian Post that though the tour date was lost, there have been other venues reaching out to rebook the tour stop.

Lecrae along with Andy Mineo, Tedashii, Trip Lee, Wande and more are kicking off the “Unashamed Tour” on March 17th in Austin, TX.

The announcement of the tour received a lot of positive feedback and it’s clear that fans are excited to see some of their favorite musicians live again. It’s clear this small hiccup isn’t getting in the way of this tour!
