adamariz drops EXTERNAL, a reflective boom bap song
Published on November 28, 2023
adamariz teamed up yet again with producer, Oza Music, to bring you the third single from her upcoming EP, “EXTERNAL”. So far adamariz has touched on topics such as hypocrites and breakdowns. In “EXTERNAL”, adamariz continues with the theme of hypocritical Christians. However, “EXTERNAL ” touches more on God’s view on Christian’s, which is a good reminder that God looks at the heart, not the external. The heartfelt lyricism also takes you on a journey through adamariz’s past. With the opening line of “feels like I’m 19 again, the walls are caving in”, we realize quickly we’re in another song filled with vulnerability. Adamariz has personally said as her grandma’s date of death approached, she began having panic and anxiety attacks sporadically, which ties in with the theme of the song. Adamariz also makes a few concerning statements such as “I felt like I was paying my own sin off”, while working or possibly volunteering at a church. This may have come from her own mind or may have been something the leaders could have told her. She follows up by saying she would leave services early to “serve another god”. Although she doesn’t say “who”, she does continue on with a bar about idolatry in the church. Adamariz then takes a dark turn, describing church hurt, rumors in the church, suicide, and people in the church not genuinely caring. Adamariz also goes on to rap about sharing the light so you don’t have to ever feel like taking your life is a good option. Adamariz said a while back, God confirmed to her that her music is meant to inspire the brokenhearted to seek God again. This journey with her new purpose began back in 2021, with “Oceans Remix”. She also continues by saying this may come off as controversial, and if she passes away, for God to forgive her, especially since He “sees my heart, not the external”. The song ends with a short prayer and a sample of an old song by adamariz titled “FACADE”. Although the song is no longer available, she’s referencing being a hypocrite and for God to see her heart not the mask she puts on. This song is meant to leave you reflecting on your own actions vs personal lifestyle and how we can all treat people better, regardless of their beliefs.
