Emcee N.I.C.E. has officially been inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame, marking a milestone not only in his own journey, but in the visibility of Christian rap. As one of the first artists from Christian hip hop to earn this honor, he joins rapper and Bishop Jarvis E. “B.B. Jay” Cooper in being recognized for enduring contributions to the genre.
Reflecting on over three decades of work, N.I.C.E. shared that his induction feels less like a personal achievement and more like fulfillment of a “divine assignment.” He stated, “This moment is bigger than the music — it’s a divine assignment that proves our stories, our struggles, and our songs have a permanent place in Gospel history.”
His impact is broad and multifaceted. Among N.I.C.E.’s career highlights are producing the acoustic version of 2Pac’s “Thugz Mansion” featuring Nas and J. Phoenix; creating and voicing Novelist for Da Jammies, the first African American and Latin animated music series on Netflix; and delivering the 2016 album Praise, which hit #1 on the Billboard Gospel chart. His singles “I Got Angels” and “Glory to God” (featuring Fred Hammond) also reached #1 on key Gospel digital and single sales charts.
N.I.C.E. and B.B. Jay were inducted on September 6, officially entering an elite group of artists whose contributions have shaped the sound, message, and reach of gospel music.
For fans of Christian rap, N.I.C.E.’s recognition is more than a personal honor—it’s a signal that rap enriched with faith, conviction, and culture is being taken seriously in the traditions of gospel.
