Last weekend was one for the books as Christians all over the country attended the “Big Church Day Out Festival. The event took place a few weekends ago from the 25th-26th of May. Big Church Day Out is an annual summer event featuring artists from the UK and worldwide. Many artists from the US also graced the occasion, worship leaders Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, and Chris Tomlin were just some of the headliners.  

UK Christian rap was wonderfully represented with many rappers such as Still Shadey, Namesbliss, Triple O, Tidez, Shack Santima, Dj Shunz,  Reblah, and many more performing live. 

Legendary rapper and CEO Zelijah was behind the camera capturing footage of the awesome day as seen below. Christians from all over the country gathered together for fun and fellowship while enjoying wonderful live Christian music from various genres demonstrating both the unity and diversity of the Body of Christ which is wonderful to see. 

New Tracks and Albums To Check Out

Namesbliss, an artist I discussed in my previous article, released a new project at midnight on 31st May 2023. A wonderful album combining soulful elements with 140 BPM grime beats a new move that contributes to the genre. 

Tidez– Another wonderful artist, who on his way to concluding his master’s degree in Law in Birmingham released an EP with various songs for whatever mood you’re in. The artist has created a project that caters to whatever you prefer whether it’s a song for the party vibes or deep songs of introspection evaluating life issues from his perspective.

One song that stands out for me is the track “normalized” attacking a sensitive topic on an issue that is unfortunately common. The artist implores men to step up and treat our sisters better. Considering the song’s sensitivity and tendency to create triggers, we ask that the listener’s discretion be advised.

Tee Supreme – the Much-loved artist is back after a hiatus. At times artists will put the mic down to cater to family and work responsibilities, however, the rapper is back with a song fitting for the summer. Making Me is a track you should spin whilst having that get-together, barbecue, or evening party while enjoying the common grace of warm and bright sunshine.  The artist falls into the melodic rap style while still spitting lyrics to edify the believer.

Before his hiatus, the artist created tracks that have achieved over 500,000 streams, the most streamed song called “Come My Way” which he released in 2021.

Zelijah the Tishbite is a multi-talented creative wearing a hat as a video producer on the one hand and a rapper on the other. He is the Founder of Aligned Vision, a production company that caters to championing the Urban Gospel Music scene both in the UK and worldwide. This means he will sometimes put the camera down, grab a mic instead, and drop some gems of rhymes. The versatility of this creative is one of the main reasons he is a respected individual in the UK CHH circles. He is a good guy and always engages in friendly banter while engaging with peers wherever you see him. 

You might have come across the term “Tishbite” while reading the narrative of Elijah in the Old Testament. According to the Bible Study Tools website, the word means inhabitant. In 1st Kings, he is described as a Tishbite, inhabitant, or stranger in Gilead.

The above-mentioned are using their gifts to be the salt and light of our Lord Jesus and it is my prayer that you will do the same. if you haven’t, try to discover the gift and talents. In addition, think about the thing that upsets you the most. Perhaps that is the very thing you are here on earth to provide a solution as Christ’s faithful witness.
