Hello People, 

Welcome to the first edition of Wag1 UK. A brief article on what’s going on across the pond in Christian Hip Hop. It’s good for the Holy Culture family to know the wonderful impact of Christian Hip-Hop worldwide and how the genre has grown beyond American shores.

Here’s what has happened in the last week:

FEED EM

After a long hiatus, Feed’Em has released a project called Gospel of Grime. Now Grime is an offshoot style of rap where the beats are at 140 BPM.  A  well-loved British style was prominent until Drill came into the scene. Hearing the artist employing a well-loved genre to communicate the gospel is refreshing. The Album also features prolific emcees such as Shardz and A Star.

CALMZ

Another gentleman back from hiatus is Calmz with a rap style you may be familiar with. This song features 678 Nath, an artist who also features in Tedashii’s latest project, and J.Y Southside who is half of a duo called Condoseven, a wonderful group known for their melodic rap.

Aligned vision Freestyle featuring GEO SBG

Aligned Vision is a production company whose founder Zelijah Tishbite states the purpose of its founding is “to bridge the gap in quality between the secular industry and the gospel industry which is reflected in their statement when Culture meets Christianity.”

One feature of the content is freestyle videos where emcees drop some fire bars complimented with high production content led by Zelijah, this time the emcee on the mic is Geo SBG

Birmingham-based Artist Tke3 is an artist you need to know who flexes a wonderful combination of mixing Rap rhythm and soulful melodies to produce a quality project.

AT THE LIFE MUSIC: WE  SIT DOWN WITH GOSPEL DNB PIONEERS 

Life Music is in the process of creating a streaming platform for Christian music offering better remuneration for artists. In addition, we have a Podcast where we sit down with Artists from around the world. Recently,  we sat down with Gospel Drum and Bass rappers Angler and King Jims. Now Drum and Bass is a very well-loved style attached to the club and raving scene in the UK and these artists have a passion for witnessing Christ to those who love the genre. As you may know, club and rave culture is akin to drug lifestyles and being caught up with addictions and these guys want to proclaim Christ as the way to freedom from the vices.
