Overcoming Envy: How to take thoughts captive
King Legend 757 never cared about trophies. His focus has always been winning souls. Then the podcast earned a stack of Spin Award nominations, and a new thought crept in: We can actually win this.
At the ceremony in Atlanta, his categories were never announced because the show ran out of time. On the way out, he found his award on a side table. It was a finalist trophy, not first place. “Why do I only have a finalist trophy?” he asked himself. That’s when he saw it: envy. He caught himself thinking another platform didn’t work as hard as he did.
On this episode of King Legend Talks, he shares how he took those thoughts captive, repented, and remembered what matters. People had travelled across the country and left with nothing, while he nearly treated his trophy like trash. Six years ago, he spent 12 days on a ventilator. He recorded this episode on his 33rd birthday, grateful simply to be alive and serving.
“Thoughts will lie to you,” he says. If you don’t deal with them, they move from your mind into your heart, and eventually out of your mouth.
Your homework: The next time you feel envy over someone else’s win, name it, take it captive, and replace it with gratitude for one thing God has already given you.

The transcript mentions both eight nominations and six categories, so I left the number out. If you know the correct count, it would make a strong opening line.
