Jayo, born in 1993 as Jesse Owusu in Ghana, West Africa, is a hip-hop artist based in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He migrated with his family to the United States at the early age of 5 and has been residing in Maryland since. Jayo is also known by the moniker “Foggie Raw” though mostly amongst his friends and peer within his local community.

Unlike plenty of other acts in the industry, Jayo landed a passion for the art of hip-hop in his late teenage years. He began rapping at the age of 18 after school classmates he would freestyle with told him he was good and urged him to continue. Since his first song was recorded in late 2011, Jayo has gone on to make several other pieces of music leveraging over 70,000 plays on his Soundcloud page in only two months. Though most of his content reflects his belief and faith as a Christian, Jayo mentions early musical inspirations include artists such as Pimp C, Black Thought, Kanye West, and Chamillionaire. According to Jayo, his devotion to God compels him to give his best in all he does, and that includes making the greatest music he can.

Jayo currently records as an independent artist and intends to release his first compilation in 2016. He is active on social media platforms and interactive on his music pages as well with over 800 subscribers on his Soundcloud page.
