116 Life Ep. 117: MEEZO! God’s Message From Pen To Paper

On a fresh episode of The 116 Life, Meah Evans and Ace Harris sat down with rising artist MEEZO!—a voice that’s quickly capturing attention in Christian hip hop. What unfolded was an inspiring conversation about her roots, her struggles, her faith, and the power of her music.

From Small-Town Georgia to the Mic

MEEZO! grew up in Putnam County, Georgia, a small town where “hood and country” culture blended together. She never imagined she’d become a rapper. Music was always around her, but it wasn’t something she saw as a calling. That began to change during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many, MEEZO! faced deep challenges during that season. She lost an uncle, battled illness, and felt isolated. Yet, in that solitude, she experienced what she calls a true encounter with God. It was a turning point. Raised in church but never fully knowing God for herself, MEEZO! began to pray in earnest. She let go of gang affiliations, secular influences, and destructive patterns, committing her life and her talent to Christ.

Transforming Pain into Purpose

Her story is raw and relatable. MEEZO! spoke openly about being bullied in middle school, struggling with depression, and even suicidal thoughts. Growing up in a tough-love household, she often bottled up emotions. Writing became her outlet. First it was poetry, then painting, then—eventually—music. Her poems were dark at first, reflecting her battles with insecurity and pain. But as her relationship with God grew, her writing began to change. Hope started to seep into her words. That same love for writing eventually fueled her rap career, giving her bars weight and authenticity.

The Birth of an Artist

MEEZO!’s entrance into music wasn’t carefully planned—it was sparked by a viral freestyle on TikTok. Friends encouraged her to lean into Christian rap, though at first she hesitated. Like many, she thought the genre was corny. But God made it clear: this was her calling. Now, her style blends aggressive energy with gospel-centered substance. She wants her music to make people move but also point them to truth. As she put it, “I want people to turn up, get lit, but I need you to get a word out of this.” That intensity is no accident. MEEZO! explained how deeply she feels her lyrics in the studio. To some, her delivery sounds aggressive. To her, it’s passion. It’s the Spirit moving through her, urging her to fight with words that carry both conviction and hope.

Balancing Two Identities

What’s striking about MEEZO! is the contrast between her everyday personality and her stage presence. Off the mic, she’s soft-spoken, shy, and introverted. On the mic, she’s bold, fiery, and fearless. She describes it as God pulling out a part of her she didn’t even know existed. That duality allows her to connect with listeners in a special way—showing that quiet strength and outspoken confidence can coexist. As Ace Harris pointed out, her calm demeanor still carries authority, and her artistry gives a platform for that conviction to shine.

Finding Community and Growth

Another key chapter in MEEZO!’s journey has been her move to Houston, Texas. Originally planning to stay in Georgia, she felt God urging her to step into a new environment. Plugging into the Lighthouse Church with Pastor Keion Henderson helped her find community and discipleship that fueled both her spiritual life and her artistry. The result has been explosive growth. Surrounded by genuine believers, MEEZO! has flourished, stepping into her voice with boldness and clarity.

Southern Delight and the 116 Playlist

Her latest single, “Southern Delight,” captures her creative evolution, blending summer vibes with spiritual depth. And her inclusion on the 116 Summer Playlist was a milestone moment. She admitted she was shocked when invited, but quickly recognized it as confirmation of her calling: “It’s my time. Yeah, it’s go time.” Tracks like “Drip” and “Glory Fall” showcase her versatility—mixing pop energy, trap influence, and worshipful themes. Her collaboration with artists like 1K Phew highlights the unity and diversity within Christian hip hop.

A Call for Unity

Before leaving, MEEZO! shared a powerful word for fellow Christian creatives: focus on unity, not competition. “Make sure you’re not only rapping about God, but actually living out what you’re putting out,” she said. For her, artistry is more than performance—it’s about embodying faith in every area of life. Her story is a reminder that God can take brokenness and turn it into beauty, pain and transform it into purpose. As MEEZO! rises, she’s not just adding a new sound to the culture—she’s carrying a testimony that will inspire many.
