IJLMI: Into Worship with Jordan Welch

In this episode of I’ll Just Let Myself In: Into Worship with Jordan Welch, host Lish Speaks sits down with one of gospel music’s rising voices to talk about worship, calling, and the deeper meaning behind her music. Jordan Welch may be celebrated for her powerful live recording, 11 million streams, and moving performances at the Stellar Awards, but this conversation reminds us that her heart for God far outweighs the spotlight.

Worship Beyond the Stage

Jordan explains that worship is never a “rent and repeat” performance. Each space she enters is an opportunity to seek God afresh for what He wants to do in that particular moment. While audiences may see her energy and joy on stage, Jordan emphasizes that this outpouring is only possible because of the deposits she makes in her quiet time with the Lord. Even when her schedule doesn’t allow for long hours of devotion, she leans on those moments of intimacy with God to carry her into new seasons.

Surrounded by grounded friends who aren’t afraid to tell her to slow down, Jordan has created a circle that allows her to take off the cape when needed. “They celebrate me,” she explains, “but they’re not fans. They remind me I don’t have to do everything by myself.”

Choir Rehearsal: Building Bridges

One of the most remarkable parts of Jordan’s ministry is choir rehearsal—a concept that began in 2021 during Jackie Hill Perry’s Glory Tour. Given just 25 minutes to turn a room of strangers into a choir, Jordan quickly realized how powerful it was to break down barriers between stage and pew. What began as a tour exercise has now touched tens of thousands across the country, both in person and online.

For Jordan, choir rehearsal is about inclusion. She wants people to see that worship isn’t reserved for professional singers or those on stage. “You can participate,” she insists. “It’s about creating an atmosphere where everyone knows they belong.” That vision continues to shape her Worship Culture Tour, where teaching, worship, and choir rehearsal merge into a weekend designed to equip believers for worship beyond Sunday mornings.

The Beatitude: A Song That Heals

Lish highlights Jordan’s song The Beatitude, a track that has brought many listeners, including herself, to tears. Jordan shares that the song was birthed during a healing retreat when she felt compelled to anchor the familiar “Blessed are…” passages in the reminder: Your life is not in vain.

That phrase, though not directly in scripture, became the heart of the message. Jordan explains that the world defines winning by material success and ease, while the kingdom flips the script. Poverty of spirit, mourning, and peacemaking may not look like victory, but God calls those places blessed. Her conviction is clear: “He doesn’t waste. He doesn’t make mistakes. And you’re blessed now, not just when the trial is over.”

Humility in the Spotlight

Although she has performed at prestigious events and received affirmation from gospel legends like Maurette Brown Clark, Jordan is intentional about keeping her focus on God. Fame is not her pursuit. Instead, she sees herself as a servant pointing people back to Christ. With a background in chemical engineering and IT, she admits that music was never about chasing charts or awards—it was about obedience.

Her devotional book, born from the scriptures behind her album, is another way she keeps listeners anchored to the Word. “I’m not interested in people just taking my word for it,” she says. “I want them to go to the Word for it and see for themselves.”

A Legacy That Points to God

When asked about her legacy, Jordan’s response is simple yet profound: “I pointed them to God.” She resists titles like “the next legend” because they carry a weight she doesn’t seek. What she desires is that every song, every sermonette, and every interaction leave people more in love with Jesus than before.

Jordan Welch’s story is a reminder that true worship is not about fame, platforms, or even music itself. It is about living a life so centered on Christ that every note, every lyric, and every encounter points back to Him.
