DJ Standout began his foundation in music at an early age through piano lessons, band, and church orchestra. This love for music continued when he arrived at the campus of UVa. He picked up some turntables and a mixer and it was an instant match. He spent hours perfecting his craft and that led to gigs all over the state as well as a weekly radio mix show on Saturday nights on 91.9 WNRN.
After graduation, he ended up in the DC area. This quickly led to gigs all over the Metro area but also led to a desire to do more than just play music. He decided that he wanted to create it. So he packed his bags and headed down to school in Miami, FL with the goal of learning how to produce music. Even though he was focused on creating music, he still had the opportunity to deejay in Miami, even landing a gig to deejay for Brianna Perry at the Miami Convention Center.
After hours in studios all over Miami, FL he was ready to head back to VA and create music. His production skills continued to blossom and he created tracks that ranged in genre from hip-hop to dancehall to r&b to gospel. He worked with various artists and ended up linking up with a gospel artist Nikea Marie to produce an album with the single “Kea’s Prayer” that still receive radio play today. He now resides in the Denver, CO area and continues to push and develop his multi-faceted musicality.
His experiences have made him into a multi-dimensional musician who is focused on using his God-given talents to stand out above the crowd.
