Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and now based in Middletown, PA, J.Solo is a Christian hip hop artist who recreates the nostalgia of 90s boom bap with a modern edge. He aims to reach the lost and uplift the body of Christ by sharing the highs and lows of life all while pointing it back to his Savior. J.Solo’s journey in music began at just 12 years old when he joined his church’s kids choir. With no prior rap experience, he was handed CDs of T-Bone’s Redeemed Hoodlum and dc Talk’s Free at Last, and told to memorize songs to perform live. That spark led to years of growth, from performing with his church rap group The Chosen Ones to recording his first tracks at home on a setup gifted by his mother. Heavily influenced by both early Christian rap pioneers and personal tragedy, J.Solo’s lyrics come from real life experiences with grief, perseverance, redemption. From the loss of a child and the pain of divorce, to his oldest son’s victorious battle with childhood leukemia, every bar comes from a place of experience and gratitude. Now remarried with six children, J.Solo doesn’t shy away from life’s
brokenness he proclaims God’s faithfulness through it all.
In 2024, he performed at Flavor Fest NYC, opening for Bizzle, and in early 2025, his single “Lost Son” landed a coveted spot on Apple Music’s “Bars” playlist. His growing list of collaborations includes respected names in the CHH space like Knaladeus, C4 Crotona, Prodi Da Prodigal, Mouthpi3ce, Monster Tarver, YP aka Young Paul, and more. What sets J.Solo apart is his sound, a mix of throwback rap with current cadences and production. He avoids the chase of trendy gimmicks, choosing instead to stay real and grounded. “People can sense when you aren’t being real,” he says. His music isn’t just for those who believe, it’s for the lost as well. One of his most powerful moments came when an atheist family member messaged him, saying they felt something special in his music and had been sharing it with others. For J.Solo, that’s the why: to plant seeds of truth through sound. “My hope and prayer is that music continues to minister to him and anyone else who listens to it.” Looking ahead, he hopes to tour nationwide and beyond, continue dropping meaningful music, and expand into areas like videography and sound engineering. But whether he’s on stage or in the studio, one thing is certain, J.Solo is here to make Jesus known.
