Rapper/Activist Ric Meeks is a Christian recording artist from the South East side of Houston – South Park community. Raised on “D-blocc” Doulton drive, Ric was exposed to both God’s word and the violence and drugs that plagued his community. It was in the streets where he fell into heavy drinking, partying, fighting and women as a teenager. He battled alcohol addiction for 20+ years and endured a failed 1st marriage along with other problems such as depression and suicidal thoughts that stemmed from his battle. After nearly losing his live one night while driving under the influence Ric surrendered his life back over to God. He began using his gift of music to glorify God and minister to those that come from his environment. Aside from the music, Ric volunteers his time with Hope Beyond Bridges when time allows and is an active member in The NAACP Religious and Health Advocacy committees and works hard to bring awareness to the dangers of alcoholism and advocates a healthy lifestyle opposite of what is presented to the youth through music and the media.
