Day 1 | Recognizing the Drift

Published on March 2, 2026

Today’s Scripture
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will
is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2 NIV

Today’s Message:

In many instances the drift starts with distractions that pull us away from our
devotion and fellowship time with GOD.

It can be anything that draws us away from HIM.

From social media, relationships, work, to money, hobbies, and
ourselves. Yes, “ourselves”!

Sometimes we get so distracted by our wants and
desires that we lose sight of HIS Will.

As stated in Romans 12:2 it starts by saying “Do not conform to the pattern of this world..” This is why the drift can be so dangerous. If left unchecked, what starts as a drift, a day here, a day there, can easily carry over into weeks, months, and even years.

Before you know it you’re in backslidden state and you definitely don’t want to drift that far do you?

Here are a few signs to help you identify if and when you’re beginning to drift
away from GOD.

1. Decrease in Spiritual Discipline and an increase in sin justification.

2. No desire to Worship/Fellowship with GOD.

3. Self dependance instead of GOD dependance.

4. Prioritizing the world over HIS WORD.

You might ask, “How do I shake myself of this drift?

As the scripture goes on to say, “but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

We must be intentional about renewing our minds daily. As we renew our minds every morning, it provides us with the opportunity to shake off the residue of what was, and embrace what is to come.

This is all according to HIS good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Today’s Prayer:
God help me to recognize when I’m beginning to drift away from You. Holy
Spirit, arrest me if I think of, or attempt, to conform to the patterns or ways of
this world. Transform and renew my mind today so that I remain on the path of
your good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Today’s Reflection Question:

Reflection #1: Where in your life have you been drifting away from God?

Reflection #2: What is one small action you can take today to help you escape the drift?

Intentionality is necessary for me to avoid the drift.  Making sure I make time to spend with God in prayer and in Bible study, being led by the Holy Spirit daily, all fortify me against distractions.  We may not be perfect but we can strive for perfection especially once we develop a rapport with God always getting in His presence to conversate and receive instructions.  It’s a great habit to develop and build upon.  Be encouraged today saints.  We can do this with God’s help.
