Day 3 | What If It Wasn’t Random?

What seemed like a coincidence in life often turns out to be God’s invitation. An unexpected conversation, a closed door, a new opportunity, or a burden we cannot shake can easily be brushed off as ordinary. 

We pray for God to guide us, yet when He answers through ordinary situations, we hesitate because we expect something dramatic. Big turning points frequently begin as simplicities we almost overlook. Looking back, God’s hand becomes unmistakable. Each step, even those that felt uncertain, was part of His faithful guidance, leading you forward with wisdom and purpose.

Throughout Scripture, God calls His people to move before revealing the full picture. Take Abraham for example, who was not given a detailed roadmap before leaving home. Then there’s Peter, who also was hesitant when invited to step out of the boat. These two biblical figures trusted God enough to take the next step in uncertainty. Hebrews 11:8 states, “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go…” Faith came first, obedience followed, and understanding came later.

Too often we wait until we feel completely certain before we act, wanting endless confirmation and guaranteed outcomes. But obedience does not depend on having all the answers. Sometimes conviction is simply God’s invitation waiting for a response. James 1:22 reminds us to do what the word says, not merely listen to it. 

Faith is not an abstract idea; it was designed to become action. 

Practical Application

Take a few quiet moments today to identify one area where you delayed obedience while waiting for certainty. Write it down and pray over it. Before the day ends, take one practical step of faith, regardless of how small it seems.

2. What specific fear has kept me from taking my next step?
3. What is one act of obedience I can execute today?

Prayer

Father, thank You for being a God who speaks and guides me. Open my eyes to recognize Your invitations, even when they come through ordinary situations. Give me courage to obey without needing every answer right now. Replace my hesitation with trust, fear with faith, and comfort with courage. Help me remember that You manage the outcome while I carry out the step. Teach me to live a faith that is active and surrendered. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
