Day 6 | Kingdom Utility

It is easy to accumulate biblical knowledge, study theology, and analyze scripture. But we have to ask a direct question: has our knowledge made us useful to the Kingdom of God?

James 2:15-16 presents a sharp reality: “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” 

We can know correct theology while ignoring the actual person in front of us. Jesus never loved people from a distance. He fed crowds, touched lepers, washed feet, and stopped for beggars others ignored. He did not separate spiritual truth from practical action, and we cannot either.

A simple prayer to adopt daily is: “Lord, make me useful today.” Not famous, not comfortable, but useful. Utility might look like sharing the Gospel, buying a meal, offering quiet attention to someone hurting, or using physical energy to help a neighbor. The Kingdom moves through ordinary believers who notice a need and meet it. 1 John 3:18 challenges us to love not merely in word or talk, but in deed and in truth. Love is measured by whether people experience the presence and care of Jesus through our tangible actions.

Practical Application 

Ask God to highlight one concrete need in your immediate circle today. Whether it requires financial assistance, physical labor, or personal time, respond directly without overthinking.

Reflection Questions

1. Is my faith primarily an internal set of beliefs, or do people experience it through my practical help?
2. Who around me is currently carrying a burden that I have the capacity to help lighten?

Prayer 

Father, thank You for loving me through action. Forgive me for being content to discuss faith without living it out. Open our eyes to the tangible needs around me and give me courage to respond immediately. Make me useful to Your Kingdom today, letting my hands and actions reflect Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
