Day 8 |Refusing the Scarcity Mindset: Learning to Recognise What God Has Already Provided
Published on September 14, 2026

Scripture: Psalm 23:1 (KJV)
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Two people can look at the exact same cup that is half-filled, yet one sees abundance while the other sees scarcity. One person sees 5 times 10, while the other sees 50 less than 100. The difference is gratitude: one person looks at what is present from a place of gratitude, while the other looks at it from a place of lack.
Desiring more is not inherently wrong or sinful, but we must recognise when what is already present in our lives is enough. Satisfaction comes from an abundance mindset, which is the belief that I have what I need rather than constantly focusing on what is missing. It means being thankful for what I have and refusing to let the absence of something determine how blessed, fulfilled, or secure I feel.
I encourage you to be thankful for what you have because the things you complain about lacking could be someone else’s earnest prayer for improved circumstances. Gratitude changes the way we see what is already in our hands and reminds us that what we have carries value.
Let this Scripture become a truth you apply to your life daily: “The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.”
Practical Application
- Write down five things you are grateful for today, including at least one relationship, one tangible provision, and one intangible blessing.
- Identify one area where you have been focusing on what is missing. Thank God specifically for what He has already provided in that area, and deliberately return your attention to those blessings whenever dissatisfaction arises today.
Reflection Questions
- What do I currently have that I once prayed or hoped for?
- Where in my life have I allowed what is missing to overshadow what God has already provided?
- How would my attitude change if I consistently viewed my present circumstances through gratitude?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for providing what I need and for reminding me that my security is found in You rather than in what I possess. Help me focus on my blessings instead of my shortcomings and live with a grateful heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
