How Chris Tomlin Inspired Eddy Puyol’s CHH Journey

Published on January 13, 2025

A chance encounter with Chris Tomlin at an airport was just the push Eddy Puyol needed to start his CHH Career.

Back in 2006, Puyol (then performing under the name Rawsrvnt), was performing at a hip-hop showcase during the Gospel Music Awards in Nashville. At the time, Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) dominated the scene, and rap wasn’t as widely embraced as it is today. Puyol ended his set with a bold twist—performing a CHH-inspired version of the CCM hit “Holiness.”

That moment caught the attention of industry executives, opening doors for Puyol to create his unique blend of hip hop and worship. But it was the next day that changed everything. At the airport, Puyol noticed Chris Tomlin sitting alone. After congratulating him on his Dove Award wins, Puyol shared his vision of using hip hop to bridge the gap between the church and the streets.

Tomlin’s response? “You just might be the right guy for the job.” Those words lit a fire in Puyol that has burned brightly for nearly two decades, inspiring a career that combines high-energy beats with heartfelt worship.

On January 28th, you can witness the fruit of that journey at the South Florida Fair’s Family Night. Join Eddy Puyol, Nick Hall, and Ben Fuller for a night of faith, fun, and inspiration, sponsored by Pulse Evangelism. Don’t miss this chance to experience how God’s faithfulness turns dreams into reality!
