Can You Be A Proverbs 31 Woman In 2025? Yes, Here’s How
Published on March 25, 2025
Is it possible to be a Proverbs 31 woman in 2025?
If you are anything like me, when this Scripture is mentioned, I just roll my eyes.
Not only was this woman perfect, but she was also wealthy, and she had help.
Half of us are struggling to pay our bills, raising our children without villages, and hoping that you don’t throw out your back by just breathing one day.
This standard of a Biblical womanhood seems out of reach and outside our reality.
But what if we have been looking at this piece of Scripture all wrong?
What if, instead of seeing an impossible ideal, we see it as a roadmap to holiness?
To show us that it’s not just right to be her, but entirely possible if we stick to our God close enough to reflect His light to the world? Tip your toes into deep waters with me, and tell me what you think.
No Judgement Zone
Before we delve into this topic, I want you to know that I am not writing this from a place of judgment. I am just as flawed as the next person, and I’ve never considered myself anything close to this biblical woman.
But the Holy Spirit showed me today, that as women in Christ, we are in a continuous journey towards righteousness if we are living the life we claim to be living. And instead of seeing ourselves fall short of this woman, we should see her as someone we should aspire to be, a woman who embodies the gifts of the Spirit to the world around her.

Nine Ways To Be a Proverbs 31 Woman
Verse 10 starts by telling us this woman is as precious as rubies, did you know that rubies are the second hardest precious stone on earth? Not only are they beautiful and precious, they can sustain and resist incredible amounts of pressure, and very little can damage its facets. The woman we aim to be, then, was built precisely for this day and time, able to withstand anything the world throws at her and still bring forth the light of our savior in a way that no one else can.
So how do we do that?
- Be willing to work hard. While the whole world knows that Proverbs 31 woman was a hard worker, what struck me today was the word willing. Nowhere does it say that she grumbled while she toiled, nor that she complained the whole time. And I don’t know about you, but there could be a lot less mumbling and groaning and a lot more gratitude in my daily life.
- Be a provider. I can’t accuse any of the women that I know of not being a provider. I always see friends and people I look up to providing support, sustenance, and prayer. But I know for a fact that in my 20s I lived selfishly. Even now, in my busiest season in life, there are still ways that I could give back.
- Be a good steward. Proverbs 31 woman, knew how to handle her business. She not only sold quality goods, but she invested in her family’s future with the profits that she made. Now, finances are a sticky subject on any given occasion but remember that you were blessed with finances by the Lord, and part of honoring his blessings is dealing smartly with what you have been given.
- Be prepared. Verse 18 tells us that her lamp never ran out of oil. We know from the foolish virgins’ parable that being unprepared can have disastrous consequences. So whether it’s being ready at work, school, or in your faith walk, being prepared, and showing diligence, attention, and forethought, It means that the daughters of the Most High step into the boardroom and the classroom ready to show up in excellence.
- Be kind. Girls are mean. Sometimes due to trauma, but others, seemingly for the fun of it. I remember falling victim to them more than once and becoming one myself on a few occasions. Being mean, unkind, and even cruel is not a fruit of the Spirit. Not only are we to show the light of Jesus to our world, but we also need to reflect his love, kindness, and, above all, grace.
- Be a step stool to lift others up. Verse 21 tells us that this woman clothed her household with scarlet, symbolizing wealth and power. This reveals someone who thinks of empowering others and is humble enough not to think it above her station to do so. We should always look for ways to support other women, no matter their journey or yours.
- Be pure. Speaking of clothing, Proverbs 31 woman was dressed in linen, a symbol of purity. While purity may have a sexual connotation, from a spiritual perspective, one could also argue that purity can come in the form of what we watch, listen to, and how we speak and act. The Bible repeatedly tells us to put away the old man and to put on Jesus, stepping into Him and leaving who we were behind.
- Be a mirror. Someone once told me that as a military spouse, when others see me, they see my husband. Anything I said or did either reflected positively on him or could get him in a lot of trouble. Proverbs 31 woman shows us in verse 23, that her life was not too similar. And by her conduct, she reflected her husband’s name and reputation in a positive light, and in return, others looked at him favorably. I can think of a few instances where that may not have been the case for me.
- Be wise. Women like to talk a lot. Sometimes for the edification of others, sometimes not so much. But verse 26 tells us that this woman opens her mouth with wisdom. In my younger days, I was prone to letting my tongue have its wicked ways. It wasn’t until the Lord dealt with my rebellious heart that I learned to bridle it and speak life and faith to others instead of sewing discord and wreaking havoc.

For His Glory Alone
I recently saw something on TikTok about a woman who said she felt terrible every time she read the Bible. She always felt like she was a terrible person, and was doomed to just do everything wrong.
But if the Bible is living, and good for teaching and correcting (2 Timothy 3:16-17), shouldn’t we feel something when we read it?
While there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1), our lives should bear fruit reflecting the transformation we have in Him.
Will you and I ever get close to this ideal woman, this side of heaven? Knowing myself, no. But if we are to be women of God, progressing women of faith, we must try.
We must look in the mirror and see the areas of our life that do not reflect our Lord and invite Him into them so that we crucify our flesh and the way that we have been living for His glory alone.
