Tha GIM Drops Free Brand New EP “Eternal Sonshine: The Prequel” Today!! July 21st 2009
Eternal Sonshine is a 6 track EP from California rap artist Tha GIM (pronounced; the Jim). Notice the “O” in “Sonshine”, as in the eternal glory of the son Jesus, for this project is definitely a hard hitting, Christ centered recording from the heart and soul of the emcee called “the God In Me”, producing a nice hand full of quality music for the summer. Dubbed as a “prequel” to the yet recorded Eternal Sonshine full length album, this current EP plays as a tasteful appetizer and a solid mark of things to come.
Production is mainly supplied by fellow California producer and familiar collaborator “Centric” (“Freedom Song”), while the projects lead single “Game Over” is handled by new comer “K.P”. Some other note worthy tracks are “Get Rich!”, which addresses spritual riches verses worldly riches, the heartfelt “Home Coming”, a song about heaven in dedication to Tha GIM’s recently passed mother, and the bass pulsing, lyrically driven “Higher”.
In unorthodox fashion Tha GIM has released “Eternal Sonshine” as a free digital download via thagim.com and myspace.com/thagim along with HolyCultureDownload.Com and other partnering digital stores, leaving the option for donations of support via pay pal on his home website. “This EP isn’t a traditional release, I’m trying something new in an effort to expose more people to the message in my heart and my brand of music, as well as build on support and awareness. So while financial support is encouraged for this album, it’s important to me that people be blessed by it and support in other ways, like forwarding it along, if they don’t have the financial means. My hope is that it spreads throughout the fans, street youth and church youth without a thought”, says Tha GIM, “and this is not throw away music, this is a powerful project!”.
