Loving God Fully While Carrying Unhealed Wounds

Many Christian women carry deep emotional and generational wounds while believing that faith alone should be enough to keep them whole.

Right now, Christian women—especially Black women and first-generation women—are navigating relentless pressure to be resilient, faithful, and composed while quietly absorbing trauma passed down through family systems, culture, and lived experience. In church spaces, perseverance is often praised, but pain is rarely explored, leaving many women unsure whether seeking professional help signals weakness or wisdom. This tension matters because silence doesn’t stop suffering; it only spiritualizes it, asking women to endure what God may actually be inviting them to heal.

Where have you learned to endure quietly instead of acknowledging that something inside you needs care?

Think about the messages you received growing up about strength, faith, and emotional expression. Which of those messages helped you survive, and which ones might now be limiting your healing?

In what ways have you confused spiritual maturity with emotional self-neglect, and what might change if you allowed both faith and support to coexist?
