should people fear ai? with Todd Walton

Should people of faith fear AI? On this episode of Faith & AI, Todd Walton says the question isn’t fear. It’s discernment. “A tool carries the heart of whoever’s holding it,” he says. “The question is who’s holding it and what they’re building with it.”

Todd is a consulting founder, a director of innovation, and the creator of Todd Builds Kingdoms, a platform built on applying ancient wisdom to modern tools. He breaks AI down into four simple steps: ask it questions, analyze your plans and data, build what you need, then automate what works. He’s watched it turn two weeks of website work into an hour.

For anyone worried about their job, Todd offers a reframe. AI takes tasks first, and the people who hand off the busy work will thrive. Even so, he warns against “worshiping hustle culture.” Take the nap. Choose carefully what not to build. And hold on to Jeremiah 6:16: “Ask for the old paths… and ye shall find rest for your souls.”

Your homework: Choose one task this week and walk it through Todd’s four steps. Then use the time you save to rest, not just to build more.

I left out a scripture reference from the transcript, Exodus 3:13, because it doesn’t fit what he was describing and is likely a transcription error. If you can catch the correct verse in the video, it would be a strong addition.
