Lee Vasi has had an incredible few years, her star rising quickly since her arrival in the Christian music scene in 2023- her transparent storytelling resonating deeply with listeners and carving out a fandom seemingly overnight. A Broadway star at the age of nine, Lee has cultivated her craft over many years of hard work and dedication, with excellence being the norm, not the exception to anything she has done. Lee’s appearances on The 116 Life episode 63 and DA Fixx, we’ve have taught us the most of Lee’s early : born to a Puerto Rican-Dominican mother and African-American father, Lee grew up surrounded by rich musical influences. Her love for music began early, landing her a role in Broadway’s The Lion King at the tender age of nine. Despite the glamour of Broadway and her early exposure to spectacular opportunities, Lee’s path wasn’t always easy.

Returning to New York for college marked an unexpected point in the young singer’s life. While New York felt like a second home, she realized it wasn’t where she was meant to stay and her eventual move back home became a season of unraveling and chaos. While struggling with deep depression, she spoke candidly about reaching a breaking point where she sought professional help and leaned on her family’s prayers and support. This period of healing brought clarity and reconnected her with God in a way that brought balance and peace to her turmoil, and put her face to face with music once again.

Interestingly, Lee initially resisted the idea of returning to music, even questioning if it was truly part of God’s plan for her. But through prayer and obedience, she rediscovered her purpose. Her 2023 EP, From Me to God, was born out of this renewed sense of calling, reflecting her raw and vulnerable conversations with God. With no initial expectations, Lee’s music quickly resonated with audiences, confirming God’s hand in her journey.

Her latest single, “GPS,” released on Friday, is a testament to Lee’s reliance on God’s guidance. Inspired by a melody and concept that came to her in the middle of the night, the song speaks to the importance of taking the first step and trusting God to lead the way. “GPS” embodies Lee’s journey of letting go of control and allowing God to direct her path.
