IJLMI: Into Good News with Anike and Porsha Love

On this episode of I’ll Just Let Myself In: Into Womanhood Lish Speaks welcomes two trailblazers in Christian Hip Hop—Anike and Porsha Love—for a deeply authentic conversation about music, marriage, ministry, and the power of sisterhood. With their new collaborative EP Good News No Gossip making waves, these two women show what happens when faith, creativity, and purpose unite.

Grace for Every Season

The conversation begins with gratitude and admiration as Lish honors the women for the dedication poured into their work. For Anike, who promoted the project while pregnant, it all came down to trust and obedience. “The Lord equips you for what He calls you for,” she shares, giving credit to God’s grace for helping her balance it all.

Porsha adds that entering marriage while creating a full project required constant reflection and grace. “I’ve never been a wife before, and he’s never been a husband before. We’re learning together.” For both artists, grace became the foundation—grace for themselves, for each other, and for the journey.

Collaboration Without Competition

Their synergy is evident in every song on Good News No Gossip. What could have been a stressful creative process turned into joy-filled sessions full of laughter, prayer, and purpose. “Honestly,” says Anike, “our biggest problem was knowing when to stop talking and get back to recording!”

Their friendship demonstrates what healthy collaboration looks like—built on trust, humility, and mutual respect. They champion each other’s strengths and understand that representation matters. “When you have someone who looks like you in the room,” Anike explains, “you notice things others might miss. You can advocate for your sister.” Their partnership stands as a model for unity in an industry that often pits women against one another.

Faith Over Fear

When the topic turns to criticism and bias, both women speak truth with confidence. Porsha addresses the way some people unfairly associate Blackness with sin in Christian spaces: “People view Black culture as sinful, but I know who I am. My confidence is in Christ.”

The honesty of this conversation hits deep. Lish calls racism what it is—sin. “Racism is demonic,” she says. “It’s not something to get over; it’s something to repent of.” Yet through all the opposition, the artists keep their hearts soft and their purpose clear. Integrity, forgiveness, and spiritual maturity allow them to rise above negativity and stay focused on their mission.

DIY Excellence and Creative Purpose

One of the most inspiring parts of the episode is hearing how the two artists executed the rollout of Good News No Gossip. From DIY photo sets taped together in garages to marathon video shoots while Anike was expecting, their creativity shows what can happen when vision meets determination.

“I’m good at making things look expensive on a DIY budget,” laughs Porsha. They share stories of filming in sweltering heat, getting friends involved, and transforming simple spaces into stunning backdrops—all while juggling ministry, family, and life.

But for both women, creativity is more than content—it’s a calling. “God told me, ‘Put Me back into the music,’” Porsha recalls. “When we lift Him up, He draws people in.” That heart for worship drives every lyric and visual they produce.

Building Community and Leaving Legacy

Before closing, the artists turn their focus to empowering other women. Anike emphasizes education—understanding the business side of music to avoid exploitation and move with confidence. Porsha adds that success without service is hollow: “You can’t want to be supported by a community you don’t serve. Don’t just look for opportunities—be a blessing.”

Both women model what it means to lead with love. Their bond is a reminder that ministry doesn’t compete; it collaborates. It uplifts, corrects, and creates space for others to rise.

When Lish asks about legacy, their answers reflect deep purpose. Anike says, “I want to be remembered for showing people how to live life God’s way.” Porsha smiles and adds, “I want to be known as a woman who loved God and advocated for women.”

As the conversation ends, Lish reminds them—and listeners—that their obedience is already changing lives. “You’re giving this generation a soundtrack they can be proud of,” she says. Good News No Gossip isn’t just an EP—it’s a movement. It’s a declaration that holiness, creativity, and womanhood can coexist beautifully under God’s grace.
