(Charlottesville, VA) February 21, 2013– Christian rapper, Shad Gill, released an official video for his song, “My City” feat. C-Ryan. The song and the video highlight the impact that God has had on him, personally, and on the city that he calls home.
Gill said that the inspiration for the song came from what motivates him to make music, “I thought about how my goal is to flood my city with the Gospel and pave the way for other aspiring Christian artists in the area.”
The song is one of the most popular tracks from his latest mixtape, “S.O.D (Songs of Deliverance),” available on DatPiff. The video was shot in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia by local production company, YC Imaging. Everyone in the video is local to the Charlottesville area.
Finding people in his community for every aspect of the video was part of Gill’s vision from the beginning, “I wanted to bring out a wide diversity of people, both saved and unsaved, and unify them (in the name of Christ) to show the power and influence of Christian rap.”
Gill’s vision for the song was to use his own personal story to impact others in his community, “I’m reflecting on how I used to live, and what I used to do, and how God changed me. My message is simple, I sacrifice my life and write this music for my city.”
Gill already has a very loyal fan base in Central Virginia and he wanted to make a song and video that they could be proud of and share with others outside the area, because he believes the message of the song isn’t restricted to a certain geography, “My message is to show people it doesn’t matter who or where you are, God can use you to win souls wherever you go.”
Gill has been using his music to minister and reach people for a few years, and is looking forward to many more. He has plans for a mixtape release later this year, and potentially an EP or album by the end of 2013.
While Charlottesville is Gill’s hometown, he has a vision for his music that goes far beyond Central Virginia. Shad Gill is creating his music for one purpose, “my goal is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide, from my city to your city, wherever that may be.”
